Questions about AI that makes calls
Is there an AI that can make phone calls for me?
Yes. AI voice agents can place and hold phone calls in a natural voice. Google's Ask for Me calls local businesses to check prices for you, and sales-focused voice agents can follow up with leads, run demos, and book meetings.
Can AI make cold calls for me?
Technically yes, but legally it's the riskiest use. In the US, the FCC treats AI voices as artificial voices under the TCPA, so AI sales calls to cell phones need the person's prior express written consent. Calls a buyer asked for are a much safer place to start.
Will people know they're talking to an AI?
They should. Some states already require AI calls to say so, and a federal disclosure rule has been proposed. Good AI agents say they're an AI in the first line, and hand the call to a human when asked.
Is it legal to have an AI make sales calls?
