What is the Sell to the Wolf challenge?

Sell to the Wolf is a free two-minute AI sales challenge: you get one call to sell a pen to Jordan, an aggressive Wall Street stock broker who makes split-second decisions and expects you to keep up. It's the classic โ€œsell me this penโ€ test, except this buyer talks back โ€” and pushes back.

Every attempt is scored, and the best runs land on the public leaderboard. It's rated Hard for a reason: open weak and Jordan will cut the call short. Most people don't beat him on the first try, and you can retake it as many times as you like.

How the challenge works

  1. 1

    Start the call

Hit Take Challenge and the call connects straight away โ€” no setup, no company details, nothing to install. You're talking to Jordan within seconds, right in your browser.

  2. 2

Sell him the pen โ€” in two minutes

You get a two-minute window. Jordan answers impatiently, mid-something, and gives you no runway at all. Every second you spend warming up is a second you don't get back.

  3. 3

Find what he actually cares about

Jordan has a hidden frustration with expensive pens, and he won't volunteer it. The reps who score highest ask their way to it instead of pitching straight over the top of him.

  4. 4

    Get scored and ranked

When the call ends you get a breakdown of how it went, and your best run is placed on the all-time leaderboard. Only your top score counts, so a bad attempt costs you nothing.

How to actually beat the Wolf

The challenge runs on a storytelling framework. Scores go up when the prospect states the payoff himself โ€” not when you list what the pen does.

Lead with the problem, not the pen

Open on an emotional problem in the moment he'd actually use it โ€” the meeting where he needs to capture a number and can't.

Paint the moment of use

Make it vivid and specific. A scene he can picture beats an adjective every single time.

Sell the outcome

He doesn't care that it writes upside down. He cares what he stops losing once he has it.

Trial close early

Ask for a small commitment before his attention drops. โ€œIf that stops the scramble, worth a try?โ€ does more work than another feature.

What loses the call

  • Opening with specs or features before there's any emotional stake.
  • Long explanations โ€” Jordan is impatient and will talk straight over you.
  • Pitching without establishing why he'd care. No problem, no sale.

Sell to the Wolf FAQ

Is Sell to the Wolf free?

Yes. The challenge is completely free and doesn't need a paid plan. You'll need a SalesEcho account so your score can be saved and ranked, but the challenge itself costs nothing.

How long does the challenge take?

Two minutes. The call is capped, and that cap is part of the difficulty โ€” you have to surface a problem, build the moment, and close inside the window.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Sell to the Wolf runs in your browser. All you need is a microphone and to allow mic access when prompted.

Who is Jordan?

Jordan is the AI buyer you're selling to โ€” an aggressive, money-focused stock broker at a Wall Street firm, built to be impatient and hard to impress. He's a fictional persona, and he responds live to whatever you actually say.

How is my score calculated?

You're scored on the quality of the sale itself: whether you surfaced a real problem, whether Jordan acknowledged the emotion behind it, whether you painted a concrete moment of use, and whether he stated the payoff before you closed.

Can I retake the challenge?

As many times as you want. The leaderboard keeps only your highest score, so retrying can only help your ranking.
